8 Ways to Get the Most Out Of Your Body Care
You care about your health. You invest in your wellbeing.
And we are here to empower you to feel your best!
We know it can take a lot to show up for yourself. Massage is often seen as a luxury, but it truly is healthcare. Improved mental health, increased mobility and circulation, faster recovery… all benefits of taking that time. Life asks a lot from us, so let’s give back to ourselves!
Let’s dive into 8 simple ways you can make the most out of your sessions.
Before your session
Hydrate! This goes for all the time. Hydration is necessary for vital cell functions and providing lubrication to joints and fascia. It helps you feel less “stuck.” And of course, tea is a great way to enhance your hydration! It’s loaded with polyphenols, which are compounds found in plants that help fight infections, aid in metabolic processes, and allow your body to absorb more nutrients.
Set an intention for your session and quiet the distractions. Can’t stop thinking about that thing? That’s okay. Write it down and set it aside, just for this moment. Come into your session with a clear intention - to rest, recharge, to make time for yourself to simply be. Oftentimes, this intentional space creates more room to get everything else done later.
During your session
Voice your needs. If you’re looking to just melt and snooze, or wanting to stretch and move and get some serious knots worked out, let us know. Want the table to be warmer? Different music? Need extra support? Let us know. We are a team, and the more you communicate, the better we can serve you.
Breathe into it. Your breath is integral to your body’s ability to receive. It invites the muscles and fascia to soften, the nervous system to regulate, and for any emotional processing to take place. Breath is powerful.
Adjust as needed. Feel uneven on the table? Need to extend a movement through the rest of your body? By all means, stretch into this new space.
After your session
Go for a walk or do some light stretching. Again, this is all about integration! Activating your muscles in this new alignment and inviting blood flow helps reduce any inflammation you may experience. And keep those muscles elongated with simple stretches - we love a good doorway stretch or runner’s lunge to open the chest and hips.
Treat yourself like royalty. Eat nourishing, warm foods, savoring every bite. Drink tea. Take a bath. Journal or chat with a friend. Slow down and be present, as best as you can. The world is a busy place and the more we can slow down in the midst of it, the better we get at handling stress.
Be consistent. Unfortunately, one massage won’t fix everything, but routine care can help prevent injury, improve circulation, address postural imbalances, and keep you feeling your best. Most people find every 3-5 weeks to be best for maintenance.
And remember, you are worth it.
